Where you'll find me
Dr. Angela’s (as she is affectionately called) focus on life and academic success began early.
As a student leader at the University of West Georgia, she received, among many achievements, the first-ever Presidential Distinguished Community Service Award for her tireless campus and community work as the Chairperson of several organizations.
She would later utilize that activism in the Governor’s Office as the Statewide Small and Minority Business Coordinator and consultant for the Department of Health and Human Services which focused on child-centered non-profits. Struggling under the strain of debt, Dr. Angela would take those invaluable business lessons and put them to use in 2002 as she and her husband founded and expanded Anel Management, Incorporated, making a pathway to financial freedom that continues to flourish.
Before placing their sons in public school and while building that company they would homeschool resulting in Dr. Angela designing curriculum and systems that laid the groundwork for academic success, emotional wellbeing, effective IEPs, and college scholarships.
As a political scientist, she would spend almost two decades researching political participation and leadership success. After becoming a Ford Foundation Teaching Fellow, Dr. Angela would become a political science professor. For over a decade she utilized her “teaching as activism” teaching style which integrated scholarship, student service, and community values, and became a well-regarded speaker on topics ranging from “Student Financial Responsibility in College and Beyond” to “Coaching and Mentoring Distance Learners on a Path to Graduation" as well as serving on student success and scholarship committees while being an educational advocate especially for Black boys and children with dyslexia.
Now in her fourth act as the Founder of Leadership Concepts Institute, she is loving the fact that she gets to use not only her life-tested and research based educational systems, business knowledge and prosperity building strategies but her passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion to pay it forward by mentoring others to THRIVE!
Dr. Angela earned both a B.A. in Political Science and M.P.A. in Public Administration from the University of West Georgia and a PhD. in Political Science from Clark Atlanta University as well as certifications in Distance Education in Higher Education and Faculty Training in Online Learning from the University of West Georgia, and Online Teaching Best Practices from Clark Atlanta University.
